DataLink
DataLink is a free
utility developed by EGTrends Inc. It was designed to provide aircraft
owners and operators an alternate, convenient method of downloading data
from their engine monitors.
DataLink was developed for the
Electronics International UBG-16, the J.P. Instruments series of engine
monitors and any monitor that supports serial, RS232 data stream output.
Infrared capability is also available for users who have an RS232 to IR or
IRDA convert from the engine monitor.
The Insight Avionics GEM
series of monitors are NOT supported as a proprietary,
encrypted IRDA protocol is used to transmit the data. GEM owners should
contact Insight and request that they provide the required encryption and
protocol information to EGTrends in order to complete development for these
engine monitors.
NOTE for JPI Users
DataLink is designed as a data
transfer utility for PocketPC devices. JPI provides a free Palm-PC based download
utility from their web site at
http://www.JPInstruments.com
DataLink does NOT
decompress JPI data as it is downloaded from the instrument in the .DAT file
format.
DataLink is
ONLY a data
transfer tool and JPI customers will need to use the EZPlot or EZSave tools
from JPI to decompress their data after moving the .DAT files to their PC as
described in the ‘Operating Instructions’ later in this document.
